Chapter 2

"God's Purpose Fulfilled in the Lord Jesus, Fitness for the Dominion."

This Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's transcription/ location is provided by http://www.theseason.org

Hebrews 2:1 "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip."

Paul is saying that we need to pay more attention to the things that the prophets have written. This "let them slip", in the Greek is like letting a liquid to leak out of an open container. If you are taking a verse here, and a word there, and a phrase somewhere else, and not taking heed to God's Word as a whole, and becoming more involved in the worldly things than what you have learned from His Word is going to leak out of your memory. You are going to lose it. God's Word will seem less and less like a reality to you, and become more like a religion. It will become just a religious form that you will follow.

Hebrews 2:2 "For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;"

If the word spoken by angels was true, and if you earnestly pay attention to the Word, in time you will be corrected for every transgression and disobedience that you have committed. Paul is saying that every time that God corrects you, it is proof that the Word of God is true. Each correction that you receive is additional proof that God does keep His Word. God Word states what the just reward will be for a certain act committed. God will keep His Word, and when you sin, God will correct you and you can count on it.

Hebrews 2:3 "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him;"

Today most people are indifferent to true "salvation", because they have changed the Word and let it slip from the manuscripts until their idea of God's Word has become nothing more than their traditions. They have become indifferent by their exchanging man's ideas and doctrines, for those instructions recorded in God's Word.

"Salvation" is the "rescue to safety" of your very soul. That is what Jesus Christ did when went to the cross to the sacrifice himself for our sins. However, we are living in a generation when it is vital that we know exactly what the Word of God says, because in our generation there are two Christ's coming, and the first is a fake. Jesus warned us to be aware of this in Matthew 24:4, 5 "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come, saying, `I am Christ', and shall deceive many."

Friend, if you are prepared to be taken by the first Christ it means that you are a devil worshipper.

Hebrews 2:4 "God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to His own will?"

It is according to God's own will what gifts that you receive, and what signs and wonders are made understandable to you. Those that God had chosen before the foundations of this earth age, were elected for a purpose. The gifts that you receive are according to the destiny that God has for you in this earth age of the flesh, and they were destined from that first earth age. All souls will live in both the first and second earth age, however some souls will not be allowed into the eternal age. However to this time, there has not been one soul destroyed yet, not even Satan and his fallen angels. But when the Millennium age is over, then Satan and all those that follow Him will "go into the lake of fire and perish".

God's Spirit's gifts are given to whom ever God gives them to, according to His will, and not man's. You will either have a gift, or you will not, God's gifts are not given to those with their beggars bag to be purchased, but according to His plan. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are real, and they are not attached to emotions, but when they are used it proves that God's Word is true.

I Corinthians 12:1 "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant."

Paul wanted all Christians to be aware of why all people were not all given the same gifts of the Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:2 "Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led."

The "Gentiles" those who are not of God's and follow His Ways, they have put their faith in idols, which in our time may be traditions and teachings of doctrines that are of the heathen.

I Corinthians 12:3 "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost."

When you understand what the gifts are, and why they are given, then when you see it happening in a man or woman you will know it was by the Holy Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:4 "Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit."

All the gifts of the Spirit are given by the Holy Sprit, but to each person receiving their gift it is unique to that person.

I Corinthians 12:5 "And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord."

There is a diversity in ways that the gifts or services to the Lord are used, but the end result is to Glorify Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Father.

I Corinthians 12:6 "And there are diversities of operation, but it is the same God Which worketh all in all."

Though two persons have the same gift of the Holy Spirit, each of them will be led to work with that gift in a different manner. The end result to the working of all gifts is to bring others to the knowledge of Christ, and in helping other Christians to mature in the Word of God.

I Corinthians 12:7 "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal."

A "manifestation" is an "expression", and it doesn't matter what form of expression that the Spirit of God places within each of us, the purpose of that talent that we are given is to profit, or help each of the body of Christ. Your talent may be in singing, art, earning money, talking or even being able to understand languages. However, what ever that talent is, it was given to you because our Heavenly Father knew that you could be of better service to Him by using it. The purpose of any talent is the betterment of the entire body of Christ. We will be judged on what we do with that talent the Holy Spirit placed within us.

I Corinthians 12:8 "For to one is given by the Spirit of Wisdom; to another the word of knowledge, by the same Spirit;"

"Knowledge" is the ability to understand what we see and read, and retain in our minds; while "wisdom" is the ability to use that knowledge that we have gained in our minds. What ever abilities that you have in gaining and using God's Word is according to and by the same Spirit of God.

I Corinthians 12:9 "To another faith, by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing, by the same Spirit."

"Faith" is ones ability to accept what you have read because it is a promise of God. To accept what you have not seen with your eyes but those things that the Spirit of God has placed within your mind with understanding. You accept that Word of God as fact because God's Word says it is so. The grace that God gives us in salvation in the flesh age is given because of our faith.

In the Millennium age that will come shortly, those that are saved out of the Millennium age will be saved only by their works, for Christ will be here with us then, and there will be no faith involved, only our works. All souls will be in their spiritual bodies then with full use of their mental capacities and understanding. That is why it will be by works only then.

I Corinthians 12:10 "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:"

"Tongues" means "languages", such as the English, Spanish, Hebrew, Greek and so on. Some people have the ability to hear and understand many languages, to the point of transferring the full understanding of say Spanish into the English, or the Hebrew tongue into the English. Our King James was written many years ago, in 1611 A.D., and very few today would ever understand the English of that day, if spoken today. However the Massoretic Manuscripts in the fifth century, by Ezra and Nehemiah, is the only true reflection of God's Word. There are some people that have the ability to go back to those writings, and bring forth to us the exact meaning of each word and phrase. That ability is an example of tongues referred here by Paul, the transforming from one language to another, to give the exact meaning of what was written, or said.

I Corinthians 12:11 "But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will."

It is up to our Heavenly Father to determine who gets what gifts, but you can rest assured that He expects each of us to use whatever gifts we have for the glory of God, and to the enrichment of the body of Christ [Christians].

Hebrews 2:5 "For unto the angels hath He not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak."

This "world to come" is right here on planet earth, but it will be a new rejuvenated earth age. God did not put the control of destiny of the new age under any angel, but He put it under the control of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:6 "But one in a certain place testified, saying, "What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? or the Son of Man, that Thou visitest Him?"

The one that testified was David, and it is recorded in Psalm 8:4 "What is man, that Thou art mindful of Him? And the son of man, that Thou visitest Him?"

What is there in flesh man that causes Almighty God to have any interest in Him? Why is it that God would crown the "Son of man" with honor?

Hebrews 2:7 "Thou madest Him a little lower than the angels; Thou crownedst Him with glory and honour, and didst set Him over the works of Thy hands."

The subject here is Jesus Christ, and this verse is a continuation of Psalm 8:4.

Psalm 8:5 "For Thou hast made him a little lower then the angels, And hast crowned him with glory and honour."

When Christ came in the flesh, born from the virgin Mary, He was made a little lower then the angels for that short period of time until he went to the cross and died. This was because the angels were in a spiritual body, and Christ was in the flesh body. The question here is, why was God so mindful of man that He would take his own Son and make him lower then the angels? Though man in the flesh is corrupt and sin, Christ did not sin while He was in the flesh. The question is: Why put Your Son in that lower state of the a Human Body when he did not have to?

The answer to that question is that God will never ask you to do anything or put you through anything that He has not done Himself. God expects all souls from the first earth age to go through it, and enter this age through the womb of woman, to be born of the water that is of the birthing process. Many of the angels refused to do this, and that is what we will read about at the end of Hebrews, and when we read the book of Jude.

The difference between Jesus Christ and man, is that though He was a little lower the angels in the flesh body, He was still perfect. That was necessary for Jesus Christ to become the perfect sacrifice, once and for all times.

Hebrews 2:8 "Thou hast put all things in subjection under His feet." For in that He put all in subjection under Him, He left nothing that is not put under Him. But now we see not yet all things put under Him.

This time has not yet happened, for the time Jesus "will put all things in subjection under His feet" will come at the end of this earth age. That time is at the sounding of the seventh trumpet, when all flesh will be done away with. Then Christ will return to earth with a shout, and the kingdom of Jesus Christ will begin. However, now we are still in the time of Satan's darkness, and it is important to make sure that the knowledge that we do have will not leave us. Many things that are going to happen prophetically we will see, and yet the full knowledge of it will not come until after the end of this flesh age or at death.

Hebrews 2:9 "But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

Think of the humility that our Lord went through, just for the right to pay the full price for the redemption of your soul. God Himself tasted death for the right to redeem every man that would repent and come to the Father in Jesus Name. The name of Jesus is our credentials that gives us the right to approach the throne of the Father. Stop and think what this means. God being the Father of all souls, is forced into killing His own children [souls] for their sins, and He has allowed His Son to take that position for those that will accept Him and that way, for it is the only way. .

Hebrews 2:10 "For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."

God wanted to save all of His children if He could, and that is why He is long suffering. II Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

God's wish is that all are saved, but it is up to the individual as to whether they will chose God or Satan. God's children will not all be saved. Those that were not taught in this earth age of the flesh, will have the Millennium age of Jesus Christ's kingdom for strict teaching and discipline, before judgment. Christ's sufferings at the cross paid for the sins of all that would have the faith to believe on him and repent of their sins to the Father in Jesus name. It is up to you to accept that gift from God sight unseen in this flesh age, for there will be no secrets in the Millennium age.

Hebrews 2:11 "For both He That sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of One: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren,"

God Himself was made a little lower then the angels by His suffering, and through this He sanctifies [purifies and makes holy] the sinner, and the cleansed sinner and He then become One. Christ in us and we in Him through His Spirit. God is not ashamed to call any redeemed soul brethren, Why? because they are family.

Don't lose the sight of the vision here, God is telling us why He came to this earth as Savior. It is obvious that none of us could have done this. There is no way that any man in the flesh could have lived thirty three years in perfection. He even allowed Himself to be tested by Satan forty days and nights, and He came out perfect.

Hebrews 2:12 "Saying, "I will declare Thy Name unto My Brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto Thee."

This is from Psalm 22:22 "I will declare Thy Name unto My brethren: In the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee." This is the Words of Christ where He called all those that will believe on Him, "brothers" and "sisters" [brethren].

Hebrews 2:13 "And again, "I will put my trust in Him." And again, "Behold, I and the children which God hath given Me."

Christ knew those of the election from the first earth age, however He also knew them that would come to Him of their own free will, and believe Him, and trust Him. "Trust" is a commitment, or promise that is accurate and true, and the party that commits to the trust will keep and honor everything that has been promised. Christ has made a promise to you, and your part of the trust is to rely on it to be accurate, and by keeping your part of the trust, He will bring you a blessing. It is a wonderful thing to be able to put your entire confidence in His Word, and know that it is true.

Hebrews 2:14 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil;"

Satan's name is "death", and he has already been sentenced to death. Satan is going to die, and there is no repentance for him, for all hope was taken from Him in the first earth age. Ezekiel 28:12 tells us that our Heavenly Father created Satan [king of Tyrus], and that he was one of God's sons. God made Him the full pattern, full of wisdom and beauty in that first earth age.

Ezekiel 28:12 ""Son of man [Ezekiel], take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus [Satan], and say unto him, `Thus saith the Lord God; `Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty."

Satan was created full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. He is not the ugly looking thing people portray him to be with a pitch fork, horns, and so on. Satan was the most beautiful of all God's created souls.

Ezekiel 28:13 "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created."

Satan was a created soul, created at the same time that all other souls were created in that first earth age.

Ezekiel 28:14 "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire."

Ezekiel 28:15 "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."

Satan was perfect until that moment that pride entered into him and caused him to sin.

Ezekiel 28:16 "By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

Satan's pride became his downfall.

Ezekiel 28:17 "Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee."

Satan, the Lord's child was the most perfect creation that God made, and that child of God went bad. Satan was a child of God, because God is the Father of all souls. Satan went bad because of his great wisdom and beauty, in the fact that He was created in the full pattern. God gave him many things and abilities that the other created souls didn't receive, just like the priest plate stones of Ezekiel 28:13. Then Satan was also elevated to the highest position of the archangels and the protector of the arch itself. He was one of the covering cherubs that protected the very seat of God [the mercy seat].

Moses was instructed to make a replica of this where by mankind could actually see what that seat looked like. It was a copy of the very arch that was by the altar of the living God.

Satan's pride of his great wisdom and beauty is what caused his fall. In as much as God is always as fair to one of His children as to another. If a soul [angel being] followed Satan in that first earth age. Then in the flesh body of this earth age of the flesh, God allows for repentance of those acts in the name of His Son. Following this age of the flesh, God has also provided an additional time in the Millennium age for those souls to accept Him, that were not taught in this earth age.

Satan has had every opportunity that all souls have had, but he has refused them. Ezekiel 28:18-19 tells us of the sentence that God has placed on Satan, but that final sentence will take place at the end of the Millennium age.

Ezekiel 28:18 "Thou hast defiled thy sancturaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee."

Ezekiel 28:19 "All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.' ' "

Satan rejected all offers that God gave him, and because his fall in the first earth age, Satan was sentenced to die then, and that is why he and only he is called the "son of perdition" in this earth age.. Paul, in calling Satan "death" refers to that time written of in Revelation 20:13-15 when this sentence will be carried out. Then God shall destroy His own child, Satan.

It was Satan, and his children the Kenites that caused Christ to die on the cross, and therefore it makes it right that when Satan dies that death in hell fire. His soul shall be turned to ashes from within, upon the earth and in the sight of all men. When this is part of God overall plan, as outlined in His Word, and it is the only perfect way. This is God's way of removing Satan and those that chose to follow him, from those that will live through the eternity.

Christ came in the flesh to die on the cross, whereby through that cross God could destroy the devil without any sorrow, because Satan and his children the Kenites brought about the crucifixion of Christ. Through the cross, both the devil and death are destroyed. God is a person, and He is always right and just, and everything that is written in His Word proves He is.

Hebrews 2:15 "And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."

God will release us and make us free, and we can already participate in that freedom when we repent, love and trust Him. When we learn of His truth and trust in His Word we can expect many blessings. We are heirs to the promise that God gave to those that would repent and believe on His name, but you must individually claim what is rightfully yours. Those blessings are yours for recognizing that you are His child, in as much a God owns all things and we become heirs to them.

Hebrews 2:16 "For verily He took not on Him the nature of angels; but He took on Him the seed of Abraham."

When Jesus came to earth, He did not come in an supernatural body, but in the flesh as a baby. Jesus came in the flesh as a child from the lineage of Abraham. It was through the blood line of Abraham that Virgin Mary did conceive and bare her son Jesus. The lineage of Mary is given in Luke 3:23-43. God could have sent His Son in a supernatural form, as He will come at the close of this flesh age, but no, God sent Jesus in the form of a tiny baby, born as we are through the womb of woman.

Hebrews 2:17 "Wherefore in all things it behoved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people."

God intended to show us that He was willing to come and be made like us in the flesh. By doing this, we become a kinsmen of Him, a relative of Christ. Christ not only lived in the flesh as we do, but because He was like us, He prepared "the way" for us. He "reconciled us", that is to say that "when we sin, and fall out of the grace of God, we become reconciled back to him by repenting of our sins". We are then brought back into the family of the Father. This is why we are compelled to love our brethren, and try to get along with them. All those in the family of God are entitled to the blessings of God. That is why every day is a good day in the Word, because Christ is this living Word, and it was He that paid the price and made the promise that you will have a good day if you will trust Him.

Hebrews 2:18 "For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted."

When Christ took on the flesh body, He showed us that love could still be retained even under severe persecution, and temptation from the devil himself. Christ loves you, and He is our kinsman Redeemer. That is why He desires that each of us put on our gospel armor so that we can fight against Satan and his army. When we put on that armor, which is the Word of God, we know the power that God has given us, so we can order Satan and his angels out of our lives when they come against us. We can stand even against the devil himself if and when he comes against us when we have that armor on and in place.
