Isaiah

Chapter 15

"The Burden [doom] of Moab."

This Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's transcription/ location is provided by http://www.theseason.org

Isaiah 15:1 "The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence.

Moab was Lot's son, and was an Adamic person. Lot was the nephew of Abraham, and the name "Lot" means "of his father". Moab was born through the sexual union between Lot and one of his daughters following the destruction of Sodom. This verse is stating that the cities [Ar] of Moab will be laid waste, because the fortress of Moab will be destroyed and brought to silence.

We will translate rather then transliterate these names to better understand what is taking place here to Moab.

Isaiah 15:2 "He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly."

"Bijith" means the place of false Gods, so we see here what Moab's problem was, Moab didn't love our heavenly Father but ran to the places of false gods. "Dibon" means a place of wasting, and this is where Moab wasted away his time and worship to these false gods. There they wept to these false gods.

"Nebo" is a prophet to a false religion, which is a liar to bring forth falsehoods. "Medeba" means "waters of rest". These false prophets promised Moab that through them Moab would have waters of rest. "All their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off with sackcloth", is an expression showing that there will be a lot of sorrow in them. When you start fooling around with other religions, mixing them to change God's Word to conform to other religions, and creating traditions and bylaws to bind God's people, then your in trouble in the eyes of God. Be careful my friend as to how you treat the Word of God, and watch out for those that would take charge over you, whom God has not sent. This is what caused great sorrow to the cities of Moab.

Isaiah 15:3 "In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly."

This is another sign of sadness upon Moab. They will not find any comfort in their false religions and strange doctrines and traditions. You are asking for trouble when you park yourself in a false house of god. If you are in a house of God that sticks by the traditions and doctines that goes back many generation, and what is taught is not in accordance with the Word of God, then you are in the same condition as Moab is here. Are you familiar with God's Word and His entire plan, or is the only thing taught in your church Salvation and Baptism? Friend, we are living in the final generation, and before you see the face of our Lord Jesus Christ, you will see the lying and deceiving face of Satan the Antichrist. Do you know the difference?

Isaiah 15:4 "And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voices shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out: his life shall be grievous unto him."

"Heshbon" is their "stronghold", the best that they had shall weep. "Elealeh" means "God is coming or ascending", and "Jahaz" means "trodden down". When God is coming their voices will be trodden down. When Christ returns they will cry out, "Jesus I healed in your name", "I cast our demons in your name", Jesus responds to them, "depart from me, I know you not". You cannot be pleasing unto God when you are all wrapped up in forms of idolatry, traditions and doctrine that goes against His Word. When God swears a certain thing and you don't even know it because you have been going to these false houses of god too long. In fact, you don't know the difference between what God has sworn, and what some false preacher utters from his own mind that goes against the Word of God. This is why we must get into the Word of God, and know what God's Word states, so that we can be pleasing to our Heavenly Father.

Isaiah 15:5 "My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction."

"Zoar" in the Hebrew text means "smallness". "Luhith" means that it is made out of boards or tables. The "Heifer" is Satan the Antichrist, and his reign is for three and a half years as prophesied by Daniel. However we know from Revelation 9:5, 10 that that reign has been shortened to five months. When Satan comes to reign, Moab with its false tables will be made very small in the eyes of God.

"Horonaim" means "two ways, or two caves", for there are two ways that Moab could take, and her weeping is caused because she has selected the wrong way. This has to do with the coming of Elijah in the last days, as given in Malachi 4:5, 6.

Malachi 4:5 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:"

Malachi 4:6 "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

The spirit of Elijah will turn the hearts of the children back to the fathers [plural]. There are two fathers coming, and one is the True Father and the other a fake. Most Christians won't know the difference between the first, who is Satan, and the true Christ who will come to end this earth age of the flesh. The message from this verse is that we are not to build our faith on something that is from boards and materials, nor tables which are movable, but we are to build upon the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is only one way to stay firm in Jesus Christ, and that is to stay in His Word and become very familiar with it. The Word of God is our solid rock and firm foundation.

Isaiah 15:6 "For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing."

"Nimrim" stands for purity. The "waters" or lies that come from Satan's mouth will have nothing pure about it. Do you understand why they went bald, and cut off their beards in shame? They didn't know the difference between the true Christ and the false christ, and they accepted the fake in ignorance. The water that comes forth is nothing but deception and lies, and it just won't water the pasture for the sheep to feed on. It is coming to this point today, as the traditions of men are preparing the sheep in most churches to accept the lies and become part of the wrong wedding. This is talking about the famine of the end times, as recorded in Amos 8:11;

Amos 8:11 "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:"

Isaiah 15:7 "Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows."

"The brook of the willows" in the Hebrew text is the "valley of the Arabians". The word Arab today has a different meaning then the identifying of a people. "Arab" is that part of the day that is darkened after the sun goes down but there is still some dim light. Arab means "at the close of the day".

So what this verse is saying is that it is at the end of the years that you will see this prophecy come to pass. These people will gather all that they can in abundance, and lay up their treasures of wealth to the very end, and in the end it will all be carried away to where it won't help one bit. Spiritually speaking, what ever you have accumulated in the flesh will be carried with you and you will be accountable for it. You will be judged by what you have stored up while living your life in the flesh. Those things are recorded in the books that are given in Revelation 20:11-14.

Isaiah 15:8 "For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beer-elim."

"Eglaim" means "two bodies of water", and in the end there will be one pure source of water and the other polluted. "Beer-elim" is the "well of heroes". Who do you look to as your heroes of today. They better be from God's Word, and our Heavenly Father better be at the top of that list. God's prophets risked their own lives in bringing words from our Heavenly Father to our understanding, while most of them risked their own lives to give us the truth.

So let's see what the verse says translated; "For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab, the howling thereof unto the two lakes, and the howling thereof unto the well of the heros."

A well is where water is drawn from, which well do you partake of? If your hero is the true Messiah then you serve a champion, however if your hero is Satan because you were deceived and went after false gods; which is the point made here, then your hero is a fake. There are two ponds giving forth waters, which are two ways and it is important to know which one of the ponds you are drawing your water from. Friend, you don't accidentally get on the right way for it takes study and commitment to know the right way, especially in the time we live in today. The only thing that will cause you to be deceived is ignorance of God's Word. Your very soul depends on the which well you draw from.

Isaiah 15:9 "For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land."

"Dimon" means "the very bottom of the river". It is the muddy water stirred up at the bottom. This is telling us just how many will be deceived. In other words, those that worship the false religion and the false christ will be punished for the acts that they have done by the living God. The punishment is not so much what Christ will bring upon them, but what they will bring on themselves. So why are they crying and weeping? Because they really wanted to do what was right only in ignorance they failed.

People don't go to church all their lives because they want to be bad, for they are seeking the truth. They want to please God, however their teachers just never get around to teaching the Word of God, but instead teach their traditions and worthless family matters that goes against the Word of God. The weeping will come when the Lord Jesus Christ returns and they realize that their laziness kept them from studying the whole Word of God for His complete plan. Are you seeking the deeper truths of God's Word, to understand the simple message that Christ taught, or have you been sucking on the spiritual milk bottle given from most pulpits today?

Paul addresses this matter in Hebrews 5:12-14.

Hebrews 5:12 "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God: and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat."

Hebrews 5:13 "For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe."

Hebrews 5:14 "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

Friend, you will never mature as a Christian until you seek after the truths for yourself, and get of the milk that most teachers are giving out today. If you have attended a church for the past twenty years and still have no idea of the things that Jesus told us to learn, how in the would do you expect to stand against the devil when he arrives to play the role of the Antichrist? You are to put your spiritual armor on and stand in place to do battle with the Satan and his fiery darts. Babes are not sent into battle, but it takes a mature Christian with full armor on and in place to fight and be victorious over the Antichrist.

It is a real shame to claim to be a Christian, and allow years to pass by without studying to know the full plan of God. Those of Moab that we studied in this chapter loved the Father, but they were just ignorant of His Word. They leaned on the wrong people, and trusted the wrong person to feed them and strengthen their spiritual life. Our Heavenly Father is the only one that we should lean on, for He is the creator of your soul.
