Isaiah Chapter 9 "Divine Interposition: Messiah Comes. [1-7]" "Yehovah's Covenant Made with Israel's Enemies. [8-21]" This Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's transcription/ location is provided by http://www.theseason.org Isaiah 9:1 "Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first He lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the say of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations." "Nevertheless" means that this is the same subject carrying right on through from the last chapter. The "dimness" is the darkness of not quite seeing the truth clearly. Zebulun and Napthali in modern times are the nations of Belgium and the Netherlands. These people travelled by ships and entertained sea travelers from all over the world. They have colonized around the world. Isaiah 9:2 "The People that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." That great light walked the earth, and He was Jesus Christ. That light is God with us in the flesh, and He paid the price for our sins so that our prayers can be answered if it is within God's Will. We should always pray that whatever we ask of God, that it be within His Will. God knows what is best for us, and if your desire is good, then you are correct in asking. However, today, many so-called preachers tell their flocks, "It doesn't matter if it is in God's will or not, when you ask in faith, God will give it to you." Praying out of God's will makes a spoiled brat out of a person, and that is exactly what happens; they learn to rely upon themselves rather then God. Their faith is turned inward, instead of upward. These spoiled brats think they are something special in their playing one-up-man-ship with each other. They refuse to be a servant of God and allowing God to decide what is best and within His will. Their faith is misdirected to focus on their own abilities and desires, rather then God's overall plan and how He would have each of us fit within that plan. When you are in God's will, He will provide the best for you for He desires to bless those that bless and serve Him. Isaiah 9:3 "Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before Thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. This verse is mistranslated from the what the Massorah text reads. It comes from the fact that "haggil'o" was separated into two words when "l'o" was made a separate word in the translation. This separation give an entirely different meaning for the entire verse. "Thou hast multiplied the exultation, and increased the joy: They joy before Thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice [exalt] when they divide the spoil." This lets you know that God is always positive in the things that He does to those that are in Him, and trust Him. Isaiah 9:4 "For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian." Do you know what happened in the day of Midian? The story of Gideon is written in Judges chapters six through eight. Gideon took over ten thousand men, and cut their numbers down to only three hundred men. God took that remnant and used them to throw the Midianites out of the land of Israel. They were "can-do" type soldiers to the last man. They trusted God and had the ability to follow His instruction to the letter. Then, with the power from God these few men cleaned the land of all the Midianites, and sent them back to where they came from. Because of the actions of a few trusted men, the yoke of the enemy of Midian was taken off, and "the rod of his oppressor"; which was draining Israel of all their wealth and food was broken. God took care of the oppressor. However my friend, it took brave people, such as the three hundred that followed Gideon to become the rod that smote the Midianites. These three hundred trusted God to keep His Word, and they acted on those promises. Isaiah 9:5 "For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire." Though this is a little confusing as written here; it is saying that our enemies and their own fires will become the fuel of the fire of God. God is the consuming fire. Those things that Israel's enemies did was the fuel that added to God fire to consume them. We will always have the victory in Christ. Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Remember from the last chapter that Children are signs in the prophesies that Isaiah is giving, and those signs have not ended. This is the prophecy concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in the flesh. He is the "Everlasting Father", that Father that has no beginning nor no end. This is looking foreward to the second advent, as we saw from Isaiah 8:8 the child "O Immanuel" was the coming of Christ in the first advent as the baby born in the manger. We see here that Jesus will return as the King, with the government of the entire world on His shoulders. He will come then to give counsel to all those that will listen, and He will be seen and known for who is; the Almighty God. He will comes again in our generation as God eternal, the KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS; He is coming back. Do you see now how the children are signs given to prophecy? You can see the dispensations or time periods of truth in God's plan. We can see the deception that shall come upon the people; of the remnant that returns when this deception is here. Then as an individual who is fed through this time of deception, while the rest of the world is starving for the lack of spiritual food. Friend, during this time, you are the one with the cow and the two sheep putting out more spiritual food then you could ever use. While the famine of Amos 8:11 is on, you will never run out of your feed from the Word of God. That food is the Word of God, and you will take of it now and come out of the darkness, or it will be hid from you through the time of deception by the Antichrist. Now is the time to get use to checking every man out with the Word of God, the final authority to your understanding must come from God's Word, or you will be deceived. God is our Counsellor and the final source of our understanding. Isaiah 9:7 "Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." This increase of His government and the peace upon the entire earth is why we know this is Christ's second advent. Time means nothing to God, for He is letting us know the chronological order of the things and events to come. God is telling you that each of these things will come to pass because He has ordered it. This is talking about the final day of this earth age, which is the first day of the Millennium age. On that day Jesus Christ will return to earth to set up His Millennium kingdom, and rule the earth from the throne of David in Jerusalem. That rule is forever, for at the end of the thousand year period, those in their mortal but incorruptable bodies will be judged, and those found worthy by their works will receive their immortality and remain in Jesus Christ's kingdom. Those people that are judged by their works at the end of the Millennium age and found not worthy when tested again by Satan, will go into the lake of fire. They will go with Satan and the earth will be free from all sin. Those of the elect that were not deceived to bow to the Antichrist will receive their rewards on the first day of the Millennium age, and will have their inheritance during the thousand year period. That period will be a time when order and judgment are firm, and justice will come by God's set of rules. Jesus Christ appoints the judges and every last one will be fair and just. It will not be like in this earth age where people do things in the dark, lie and get away with it. Where liberal judges are bought off, and turn their faces on things that fit their political ideas. When this age of the flesh is over, so are the things of the flesh, and God will establish His justice "henceforth even for ever". This is why it is important for you and I to know the order of events that shall come to pass so that we are not deceived by Satan the Antichrist who is coming first. Before that great day of the Jesus Christ's return, in our generation we will witness the return of Satan, who shall come to deceive the entire world in his role of "the instead of Christ", or also called "the Antichrist". Isaiah 9:8 "The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel." That "word" that was sent to Jacob, who are all the tribes, was "wonderful". Jesus Christ that would come born of a virgin was that living Word. Isaiah 9:9 "And all the People shall know,even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride of stoutness of heart." "Ephraim" is the ten tribes that are scattered as Christian nations around the world today. The "inhabitant of Samaria" is the type for the Antichrist that will reign in the end times. Isaiah 9:10 "The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars." Satan has always tried and wanted to be a "cedar of Lebanon", which is a child of God. Satan will try to present Himself as the tall cedar, but he will not fool God's elect. He will claim to make things right, and rebuild a governmental system with his "hewn stones" which are the Kenites, and most of the world will fall for the Antichrist's deception and lies. Isaiah 9:11 "Therefore the Lord shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;" When this comes to pass what happens? Isaiah 9:12 "The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still." This is exactly what will happen when Satan returns to earth. He will devour all of Israel with his open mouth. God is going to cause those ten tribes which are Ephraim to accept Satan as their true Christ, and believe the flood of lies and deceitful wonders that come from Satan's mouth. Ephraim was the name that the ten tribes of the House of Israel became known as, when they migrated through the Caucasus mountains and then scattered throughout Europe, and around the world. They are known today by this event, and called "Caucasians", Remember from Hosea 1:10, Hosea stated that in the last days they would be named after the living God, who is Jesus Christ. Friend, they are called Christians today. Those many nations that are made up of that ancient "house of Israel", are the Christian nations of today. The people of those nations don't know who they are even today, and God is saying that because they refuse to accept their identity, He is going to allow the "Assyrian" [Satan] to have them. He is drawing attention to the end of the second advent, and this is talking about what is going to happen just prior to that advent [second coming]. God is going to turn the Assyrians [Satan and his realm] loose to do with Israel just as they did with the ten tribes before. This is a type of what we shall see very shortly. The Assyrian [Satan] will deceive the majority of the people that walk on the surface of this earth. Satan will deceive people just before the coming of the true Christ into believing that he is Jesus Christ. When Satan build's his temple, and declares himself to be God, as recorded in Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24:15; II Thessalonians 2:3, 4 and many other places; most Christians will believe his lies. They will do it in ignorance because their church traditions and doctrines have taught them to do so. They are being prepared to accept that lie today, and in the day that Satan comes most Christians will be anxious and proud to jump into bed with Satan, and become one of his old harlots. II Thessalonians 2:3 "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition," Satan is that "son of perdition" that will come before the true Christ. This is a warning to you to wake up and watch for this event so that you are not deceived when Satan comes. II Thessalonians 2:4 "Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the Temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." This action of Satan, sitting in his temple and claiming to be God is what Daniel calls the "abomination of Desolation", and Jesus warned us about him in Matthew 24:15. Isaiah 9:13 "For the people turneth not unto Him That smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of hosts." The people are ignorant of what is happening to them by Satan. When God corrects you and warns you about something that you are doing, thank him for that. Isaiah 9:14 "Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day." This is the "day of the Lord", the day that Jesus Christ comes to earth to set up His Millennium kingdom. In one day, in the time it takes you to wink an eye, God will take all those leaders that have led you to Satan, and rule over you in Satan's one world religious order. The things taking place just prior to this day are detailed in Deuteronomy 28:13-44. Isaiah 9:15 "The ancient and honourable, he is head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail." It is by the dragon Satan's tail that he drew a third of the children of God away from our Heavenly Father. Revelation 12:3 "And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads." Revelation 12:4 "And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be dlivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born." Satan deceived and drew away one third of God's children, and deceived them. His tail is his lies and all the lying wonders of the supernatural powers that He will use to perform in the sight of all men on earth. It will be because of their false prophets, their ministers that Christians will be led away from the truth, because these prophets have replaced the true Word of God with their own traditions, customs teachings. The Ancient and honorable will be the head on this "day of the Lord". These are the ministers that have taken the time to point out the error in the traditions of men, and teach the Word of God to prepare God's elect for the deception of Antichrist. This is why we should be careful as to what we accept as being the truth, and study to know the plan of God. We should know the evernts of our generation and know the order of those events as they come to pass. Isaiah 9:16 "For the leaders of this People cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed." The leaders" would be better translated "The flatterers" of this people are the ones that cause Christians to be deceived. If you are following one of these flattering ministers, putting out false doctrine, such as the rapture doctrine, you will be swallowed up in the deception that will come very shortly. We prevent this from happening by "taking the wisest counsel that is eternal", who is Jesus Christ the living Word, and we do that by checking out what we hear in His Word. Satan is not the eternal, for Satan is the "son of perdition", the son that God has already sentenced to death at the close of the Millennium age. Satan and all them that follow him will be destroyed. Thank God for the Millennium age, for if it were not for the Millennium period it would be a very sad day on the "day of the Lord". Isaiah 9:17 "Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still." Even after all the people on the earth seek after Satan's folly and chase after his ways, God will still have His hand out. God is not saying that He doesn't like the widows and the orphans, He is angry at these preachers that raise their money showing pictures of these little orphans and widows starving. The good minister sees to it that the widows and orphans and orphans are taken care of without the beggers bag. His flock knows it is important to take care of them because they have been taught to do so, and the begging is not necessary. God is talking about the time where He will separate the sheep from the goats, the true children of God from the hypocrites, evildoers and those speaking folly with their mouths. God knows who they are for He reads the very intent of their minds. There are organizations that do give all their proceeds to the care of the orphan and widowed, but this is not aimed at them. It is aimed at those that deceitfully raise their money for one thing, but spend it on other places, such as their buildings, and covering their other events that have nothing to do with the intended request. Isaiah 9:18 "For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke." This wickedness is running wild today with children killing children, and drugs taking away the minds and judment of a large segment of our people. People steal from their own familes and friends and think nothing of it. Though there are many evil things that are happening, we do live in one of the greatest times ever. This is because it is obvious that we are living in the time of the end. Though there is much evil, there is still so much good that can be done. It doesn't matter what is going on around you, when you do God's will, He will pour the blessings out on you. You do the building, and God will furnish the bricks. Isaiah 9:19 "Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts is the land darkened, and the People shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother." In the final days of this earth age, people will not know who their kindred people are. This is not a racist statement, because in this earth age we are responsible for our brother or sister. The brother is one born of the same parentage that you are. However there are certain responsibilities that we have and are responsible for, and that is why God brings "brother" into this. Isaiah 9:20 "And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm" It is talking about food here, about cutting meat. This is given in a spiritual sense and in the latter days men and women will be reaching with their right hand to grab at spritual food, and by the time it reaches their mouth or mind it is just not enough. They will never be full and satisfied. As they consume each others spiritual food, they don't know who to believe. Why? Because they don't know who's brother is who. They don't know who they are, and when they apply Scripture, they have no idea who is being talked about, nor what applies to them. They don't know the true Word of God from the traditions and dribble that is taught in many church houses today. They would rather be entertained by man, than be corrected by God. Isaiah 9:21 "Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still." God is not going to be pleased even after this age of the flesh is over, for Ephraim and Manasseh will not be joined to Judah until after Christ coming and we are in the Millennium age. Ephraim and Manasseh were the sons of Joseph that received the Abrahamic covenant blessing from their grandfather Jacob [Israel], and would carry the name "Israel", and the blessing for all time in this age. In the final days of this earth age, the last generation which we are now living in these people of both houses, Israel and Judah will be deceived by Satan in the role of Antichrist, and even after this God hand will still be stretched out to them for judgment. The reason that God is angry is that those that call themselves Christians and of God, still won't trust Him. They keep trying to create their own salvation, and chasing after other religions. When Manasseh and Ephraim go against Judah, this is a civil war. When two Christian nations go to battle against each other, it is brother against brother. Manasseh, Ephraim and Judah are all sons of Jacob, and are brothers. Their offspring are kin to each other, and this battle within the family unit becomes civil war. It should not be fought and shows that something is very wrong. Usually at the bottom of the trouble are Kenites that have mixed in to cause the disturbance. They have worked their way to a position of authority, and brought their system with them. God uses these Kenites to stir the people and punish His own children. Then after the punishment has taken place, God is saying that He is still not happy with them.
