"A Song of Degrees."

This is the second Psalm of degrees, and it is the first of the Trust degrees. These degrees go in steps, and if you follow these steps you will increase your knowledge and understanding of His Word, and gain self confidence. Self confidence to the degree that you understand that it is God Himself that upholds you in your life, that places that trust and self confidence in your life. You come to the understanding that you are captive, the servant and slave of Almighty God through the truth of His holy Word.

Psalms 121:1 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help."

There is only one hill that you can look to for help and that is mount Zion, it is where our lord was crucified, and at the second coming of the Lord, it will be cleansed. Sure Antichrist will claim it for his kingdom, but only for a short time, then at the seventh trumpet, Jerusalem and mount Zion will be cleansed and prepared for the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalms 121:2 "My help cometh from the Lord, Which made heaven and earth."

Now this verse emphasis exactly where your help comes from. It comes from the Lord: our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the creator of the heaven and the earth, and that gives him the right to rule over all of it. Though He created and controls it all, Our Heavenly Father still care for you and all your problems. He will help you if you ask Him for His help. It doesn't matter who you are, for when you call upon Him in repentance and He is there to help you.

Psalms 121:3 "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He That keepeth thee will not slumber."

If you are standing in Him, in Jesus Christ, He will not suffer your foot to be moved. This is not an a part time basis, but all the time. He never slumbers.

Psalms 121:4 "Behold, He That keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep."

Again, this is a watch that goes on every minute of the day and night.

Psalms 121:5 "The Lord is thy keeper: The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand."

"The Lord is thy keeper", and this was given three times for emphasis. The right hand is used for giving of service, and the Lord is not going to allow your soul to be harmed while you are faithfully serving Him. He is your keeper when you in the body of Christ.

Psalms 121:6 "The sun shall not smite thee by day, Nor the moon by night."

Our heavenly Father is your shade by day, and your protection by night. He is going to protect you every moment of the day.

Psalms 121:7 "The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul."

The Lord shall preserve you from all the evil of mankind, and the realm of Satan himself. Did you get that? He shall preserve THY SOUL. It doesn't say anything about your flesh body, it is doomed for the grave and the return to the elements that it is made of when your soul is finished with it, but your soul is preserved for eternity. God will test that flesh body at times to keep you in line, and let you know when your feet have left the path as set down in His Word. But He shall preserve your eternal soul.

Psalms 121:8 "The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."

the first three promises is that God will keep your soul, and now we see the three times that God promises that He shall preserve your soul. God shall preserve "thy going out and thy coming in"; this is a Hebrew idiom for "life in general". This promise was given in person to Hezekiah in 2 Chronicles 32:22; "Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side."

Just as this degree was given to Hezekiah, and the protection was made for Jerusalem, you can count of the same promise as the king of Babylon of the end times, Satan floods the earth with His lies. Your soul is eternal, and eons after Satan and all evil ones have perished in the lake of fire, your soul will be alive and with the Lord. This chapter should build your trust in the faithfulness of Father to His children, to you.
