THE PSALMS

Chapter 131

"Group IV. Psalms Third Deliverance, Blessing and Peace Message."

This is approaching the ending of the degree Psalms.

Psalms 131:1 "Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, Or in things to high for me.

Lord, I'm not proud, and boastful over who I am. I accept Your miracles as a gift from you, and I don't try to do them myself. You couldn't even if you wanted to. You see the blessings that God has given you in your life, and are thankful for each and every one of them. You know they were a gift, and our Father is the creator of all things. You got those blessings because He wanted you to have them.

Psalms 131:2 "Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: My soul is even as a weaned child."

God is using the relationship of a mother to her small baby. When a child is hungry it cries and tries to get its mother's attention. However, once that child has been weaned or fed, it is satisfied and just wants to be held and receive mother's love and attention. My soul is one that seeks not the food to please my flesh body, but love from the Father that can only be satisfied by Him. The Hebrew text gives is this way.

"I have calmed and humbled my soul, like a weaned child with it's mother. Like a weaned child with Me is my soul." It is at peace and in comfort. "I have learned submission to thy will," To the plan of God. "the quiet of that which is sweetness in life." It is that part that reclaims a freshness in your soul. That is how our Heavenly Father wants you to desire His love. He wants you to desire Him as the child seeks the love and affection, and protection from it's mother.

Most Christians today think of God as a store where there is no cashier, and it becomes a matter of what have you done for me lately. They get their needs mixed up with their lusts, and wants, to where they can't tell the difference.

Psalms 131:3 "Let Israel hope in the Lord from henceforth and for ever."

You will have hope in the Lord, if you act like a weaned child held by it's mother. When you see the love and warmth that only our Heavenly Father can give those that put their trust in Him. The warmth that comes to us is the warmth of the Holy Spirit as He gives comfort to our soul in times of need. Three short verses, yet this chapter says so very much.
