THE PSALMS

Chapter 67

"Praise Promised. Trouble Remembered."

This Psalm continues with the same thought that we ended on in the prior chapter; "Praise Promised", only there is an additional little story that is attached to it. That part is that the "Trouble is Remembered". This is written "to the chief Musician on Neginoth." Neginoth means "smitings: The smitings of Israel's enemies by God. These smitings are in reference as the smiting of strings on a musical instrument. It's reference is in Lamentations 3:63 "I am He whom they smite [with their words]." In all the Neginoth Psalms there is the note of deliverance from personal smitings. Though there is a reference to Israel's deliverance, there is also a personal application to our deliverance also.

Psalms 67:1 "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; And cause His face to shine upon us; Selah."

This song makes a very personal request to our Heavenly Father to look upon us favorably, and be gracious unto us in our daily lives. Then we have "Selah"; to stop and meditate on what has just been said. This Selah connects the prayer with the object of what is about to be said in the next two verses.

Psalms 67:2 "That Thy way may be know upon earth, Thy saving health among all nations."

Stop and think for a moment, the reason that God's face will shine on you or anyone is God's way may become know in our minds here on earth. God's way is spelled out in detail in His Word, for those things He wants in our minds are given in detail within His Word. God's Word is a guide for our lives. Psalms 119:9-11 "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to Thy word." [9] "With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments." [10] "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against Thee." [11]

God cares about all peoples and nations, and He cares about the souls of each individual on the face of the earth. He cares about what the people do, and the governments that rule over them. God sets up governments and He takes them down. Paul tells us in Romans 13:1, 2.

Romans 13:1 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God."

Romans 13:2 "Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

God knows each of us, no matter what government we are living under, and He reads our hearts and minds.

Psalms 67:3 "Let the people praise Thee, O God; Let all the people praise Thee."

Again this is looking forward to that time in the Millennium age when all the people will praise God, and bow to Jesus Christ.

Psalms 67:4 "O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: For Thou shalt judge the people righteously, And govern the nations upon earth. Selah."

YHVH our Heavenly Father is the only one that is able to judge all the people and nations righteously. Jesus Christ is coming to earth at the seventh trumpet, after the reign of Satan, in his role as the Antichrist, or "instead of Christ"; and Jesus will rule the entire earth for that thousand year period. Jesus the Christ, the Yeshua Messiah will govern all the peoples on the face of the earth. The point in time when every knee bows is when they see Jesus coming as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Yes Paul tells us in I Corinthians 15:50-52 that there will be a change for all flesh bodies will be done away with, and instantly, in the twinkling of an eye we shall all be in our soul or spiritual bodies as the angels have, for the next thousand years. Then righteousness rule.

This next Selah tells us to stop and meditate on this face. Jesus the Christ is coming to earth, and it is not far off now. This "Selah" connects the righteous rule of God, and our Lord Jesus Christ with renewed praise for Him in the next three verses. It should not take to much thought to connect that when every knee bows, we are talking about Yeshua Messiah, Jesus the Christ [Anointed one] as the one reigning here on earth. When Satan reigns, not every one will bow, for the elect will know Satan for the fake he is. The elect of God will know that when Jesus comes, we will not see in while in our flesh bodies. Jesus is coming, and it is going to happen exactly as it is spelled out in Revelation 19:11-18. So this connects Jesus rule with renewed praise.

Psalms 67:5 "Let the people praise Thee, O God; Let all the people praise Thee."

"Let all the people praise Thee." Again, this sets the time that this will happen, for it will be at the start of the Millennium age of Christ's kingdom right here on earth. That time is spoken of in Ezekiel, chapters 40-48. This is the only time when all the people will praise Jesus, for by the end of the Millennium age when Satan is released for a short season, many will turn right back to follow him in battle and into the lake of fire.

Psalms 67:6 "Then shall the earth yield her increase; And God, even our own God, shall bless us."

Psalms 67:7 "God shall bless us; And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him."

"To the chief Musician."

Every soul on earth at Jesus return shall revere Him, or they will not be here.
